Emergency Contraception

If you have had unprotected sex, or your usual method of contraception has failed, there are now 3 methods of emergency contraception available. Visit one of our clinics to discuss your options.

There are 2 types of emergency contraception pills- one which can be taken up to 3 days after unprotected sex and the other which can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex. It is more effective the sooner you take it. For more information about emergency contraception or to find a clinic/pharmacy near you please visit the NHS choices website on: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception-guide/pages/emergency-contraception.aspx or alternatively call NHS 111.

The copper coil –IUD can be fitted in a clinic up to 5 days after unprotected sex, or 5 days after ovulation

If you have had unprotected sex then you may have put yourself at risk of an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) so it’s a good idea to get tested for STI’s.
